Funkcjonuje ona na kilku poziomach i w wielu obszarach: polityce, kulturze, ekologii, a tak\u017ce jako pewnego rodzaju idol. Panda postrzegana mo\u017ce by\u0107 jako zdegenerowana istota (\u201echcemy utrzyma\u0107 dobre czasy, kt\u00f3re ju\u017c min\u0119\u0142y\u201d \u2013 Robert Lifton) czy symbolizowa\u0107 wsp\u00f3\u0142czesnego cz\u0142owieka (pod\u0105\u017caj\u0105c za my\u015bl\u0105 Ortegi y Gasseta: <em>el se\u00f1orito satis- fecho<\/em>). Drug\u0105 istotn\u0105 figur\u0105, funkcjonuj\u0105c\u0105 jako symbol nowoczesnego artysty, jest tutaj Marcel Duchamp, kt\u00f3rego posta\u0107 pojawia si\u0119 w dw\u00f3ch kluczowych dla projektu pracach: koszu na \u015bmieci, z kt\u00f3rego wydobywa si\u0119 jego g\u0142os oraz neonie <em>Has Marcel Duchamp changed the world?<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Projekt ukazuje, jak pomimo szczeg\u00f3lnych d\u0105\u017ce\u0144 do zmiany \u015bwiata zapocz\u0105tkowanych w modernizmie, sztuka wsp\u00f3\u0142czesna jest repertuarem tych samych, powtarzanych idei, kt\u00f3re ostatecznie sta\u0142y si\u0119 puste. D\u017awi\u0119k s\u0142\u00f3w Duchampa wydobywa si\u0119 bezcelowo z otch\u0142ani pandy. Jedyne, co pozostaje sztuce, to koncepcje (poezja) i symbole.
